One Pot Sausage & Chicken Gumbo
This is my first try at gumbo, though I’ve been married to my New Orleans-born husband for 23 years. So embarassing!
I have been blessed with Southern Kelle Living growing faster than I'd ever dreamed so I want to make sure I support local businesses! You'll find the links below.
Using this “Jambalaya Girl” mix was super fast, easy and tasted awesome. (https://jambalayagirl.com/)
I also got to cook it and my beautiful new PREAUPOTS dutch oven! (Geaux LSU!) (https://cooklikeapreau.com/)
Here's the instagram link to the video:
Recipe:
Sauté in a dutch oven:
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 yellow onion diced
1 ½ cup diced celery
½ cup diced yellow bell pepper (any color is fine)
½ teaspoon kosher salt and pepper
1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast diced
1 lb smoked sausage slice thinly
Once cooked thoroughly add:
4 cups water
in a separate cup mix:
2 cups water
4 oz Jambalaya Girl Gumbo base
Return pot to boil, reduce heat to low and let simmer for 20-45 minutes while you cook your white rice.
Make 2-3 cups of white rice according to instructions.
Once the rice is cooked add ½-1 cup to the center of a bowl filled with gumbo!
Enjoy!
