Sourdough Cinnamon Roles w/ Cream Cheese Icing
Amazing!!! “Mr. Southern Kelle Living” has finally found THE best recipe for cinnamon roles. They are fluffy & moist (I know people hate the word but it fits!) with just the right amount of sweet. So. good. Shout out our sourdough starter, whom we have a lovingly named Agatha!

Recipe:
Ingredients:
7 tablespoon butter; very soft
3 tablespoon sugar
5 tablespoon milk; warmed
1-1/3 cup sourdough starter
3 eggs
2 teaspoon yeast
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon powdered milk
1 teaspoon kosher salt
Cinnamon Filling
5 tablespoon butter; room temperature
6 tablespoon brown sugar
6 tablespoon white sugar
2+ tablespoon cinnamon - more to taste
Icing
8 tablespoon butter, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
5 tablespoon cream cheese
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoon milk
Instructions:
In a large bowl, blend the butter and sugar until smooth.
Add the eggs, milk, and the sourdough starter and mix well.
Add the dry ingredients.
Knead the dough, adding a little more flour as needed to prevent sticking. Knead until smooth and no longer sticky.
Place in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise at room temperature until doubled in volume, about 2 hours.
Punch down and roll the dough out into a long rectangle, about 1/4 in thick, about 18" by 12".
In a small bowl prepare the filling by mixing together the butter, both sugars, and cinnamon.
Spread the filling over the top of the rolled out dough.
Roll the dough up along the long side and cut into 12 equal pieces.
Place the rolls in a large baking dish lined with parchment paper, cover and let proof at room temperature until doubled in size.
Preheat oven to 400F. Once the rolls are proofed, bake at 400F for 20 - 30 minutes, until they become golden brown.
While baking, prepare the icing by creaming the icing ingredients in a small bowl.
When done, remove cinnamon rolls from the oven and spread the icing over the tops. Serve while hot.
