
Three Cheese Baked Penne Marinara with Ground Turkey & Spinach
I made this for "National Pasta Day" and it was so flavorful with all of the spices! This was the first time I have used queso fresco, which is usually found in Mexican recipes, and it was a nice and mild addition, not overpowering the other flavors. The fresh, chopped spinach and ground turkey lightened the dish up adding some bonus nutritional value for my kiddos.

Recipe:
To start:
Sauté
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
1 yellow onion, diced
1 small package fresh spinach, diced
1 pound ground turkey
Spices:
⅛ tablespoon red pepper flakes
½ teaspoon granulated onion
½ teaspoon chicken base
¼ teaspoon granulated garlic
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried thyme
½ teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon pepper
After combined and well cooked add:
3 cups of your favorite marinara sauce
Then add it to:
1 pound of al dente cooked penne pasta
Mix in:
1 10 ounce package of queso fresco
1 cups mozzarella, shredded
½ cup parmesan, shredded
Then top with:
1 cup mozzarella, shredded
½ cup parmesan, shredded
Bake at 350° for 30 minutes
