Three Cheese Baked Penne Marinara with Ground Turkey & Spinach

Three Cheese Baked Penne Marinara with Ground Turkey & Spinach

I made this for "National Pasta Day" and it was so flavorful with all of the spices! This was the first time I have used queso fresco, which is usually found in Mexican recipes, and it was a nice and mild addition, not overpowering the other flavors. The fresh, chopped spinach and ground turkey lightened the dish up adding some bonus nutritional value for my kiddos.

Here's the link to the Instagram video and then the full recipe.

Recipe:

To start:

Sauté

3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

1 tablespoon butter

1 yellow onion, diced

1 small package fresh spinach, diced

1 pound ground turkey

Spices:

⅛ tablespoon red pepper flakes

½ teaspoon granulated onion

½ teaspoon chicken base

¼ teaspoon granulated garlic

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon dried thyme

½ teaspoon kosher salt

½ teaspoon pepper

After combined and well cooked add:

3 cups of your favorite marinara sauce

Then add it to:

1 pound of al dente cooked penne pasta

Mix in:

1 10 ounce package of queso fresco

1 cups mozzarella, shredded

½ cup parmesan, shredded

Then top with:

1 cup mozzarella, shredded

½ cup parmesan, shredded

Bake at 350° for 30 minutes
